THE ADA PRACTICAL GUIDE TO OSHA TRAINING 1 Workplace safety and health pose a challenge to employees in many occupations. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is the federal agency established to develop regulations that help create a safe working environment for employees, including dental staff. OSHA has created regulations to help protect dental staff from workplace exposure to infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, fire and other hazards. This book introduces dental staff to OSHA regulation of the dental office and outlines steps for compliance. You will learn how to integrate certain procedures into your daily work routine to help keep you safe. How to Use This Program The ADA Practical Guide to OSHA Training: Compliance for Dental Professionals is composed of four units. The first one explains the General Safety Standards and gives an overview of OSHA regulations. The next two the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and Hazard Communication Standard focus on the two major OSHA standards that apply to the dental office. Unit Four outlines what every dentist/compliance manager needs to know to comply with OSHA regulations. Checklists at the end of each unit help to reinforce key points. These checklists help gauge and document your understanding of the regulations. Office compliance managers can copy the unit checklists to use as staff training records once the training requirements have been met. Individuals who successfully complete this program are eligible for three hours of continuing education credit. To receive these credits, complete the continuing education exam included at the end of this book and return it to the American Dental Association along with the required payment. Follow the instructions printed on the test form.
