Keep the forms included with this program as originals. Make photocopies as needed. The staff meeting provides an excellent opportunity to begin developing office policies for infection control. Follow-through with goals and action plans for establishing an infection control program will be improved if the entire staff is involved in the process. 5. As a refresher, review both the video segment and the workbook. As new staff join the dental team, they can use this program to become familiar with the office infection control routine. Developing an effective infection control program for the office includes the following: Evaluation of the dental office/clinic environment to determine what policies and practices exist and what alterations in current infection control efforts are required Development of written infection control policies and practices, and education of all members of the dental team to ensure familiarity with them Regular monitoring to ensure that policies and practices are implemented correctly Necessary equipment and supplies for adherening to Standard Precautions are available and functional. You should appoint a trained infection control leader to oversee this activity 5 THE ADA PRACTICAL GUIDE TO EFFECTIVE INFECTION CONTROL Continuing Education Credit Individuals who successfully complete this program are eligible for three hours of continuing education credit. Individuals who wish to receive continuing education credit must complete the continuing education exam included with this program and return it to the American Dental Association, along with the $20 per test fee. This fee is payable by check (made out to the American Dental Association) or charge card. Follow the instructions printed on the test form.
